Lisa the Managing Director

Lisa the Managing DirectorYour current job is: joint Managing Director of Airmaster

Tell us a bit about your company: Located in the heart of Sheffield City Region, over the past 25 years Airmaster has transformed from a ‘man and van’ operation to become a leading mechanical services company which designs and manufactures on- site, installs and maintains bespoke, energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing and ventilation systems, for most market sectors across the UK.

What does your job involve: I am responsible for overseeing resources from finance to HR and training- plus building relationships with current and potential customers. I am an ambassador for Airmaster, women in refrigeration, STEM and leadership nationally.

How did you get started in the industry: Back in 1992 I Lisa started as Airmaster’s part-time book- keeper alongside an accounts role at a University. I have been with this company now for almost 25 years and seen it grow and increase its turnover and number of people employed.

Career highlights: I am regularly called on to share knowledge within the industry and to the community through appearances on BBC and local radio promoting Rotherham, the opportunities and benefits of the STEM sector and engaging with other businesses.

Other achievements: In 2016 I was appointed as the first elected female President of Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber, a board-member of their Women in Business group and rare female Freeman of The Cutlers Company.

What qualifications and training did you have:  I scraped 5 O levels in what was then a poorly-performing school and after a series of jobs, at 23 I decided to improve my education by studying Accounts and Business and Finance at college. Another inspiring teacher pushed me through to Masters level. At 30 I gained an MSc degree in Resources Management from the University of Hull.
